GOAL II: TO FORM A SUPPORTIVE, CARING COMMUNITY
Our WITNESS to Christ calls us to be formed by the Gospel at every stage of our lives. Jesus calls us to look at the world we live in and the people we live with in a unique way. Faith Formation is an ongoing process that should happen for every parishioner through educational programs, through experience or a combination of both. The goal of Faith Formation is to offer to the parish a variety of opportunities so that all parishioners, regardless of age, can answer the Lord’s call to witness.

Objective 1: To continue to strengthen our programs for Religious Education so that our children see the connection between faith and everyday life. To offer workshops and seminars that strengthen the spiritual development of our teachers.

Objective 2: To offer opportunities to adults (married or single, young or old) to “know” and to “grow” through programs that focus on areas of knowledge, skills and attitudes. Among these are: 1) Adult Faith Sharing, 2) Scripture Study, 3) Conference Sharing for Men & Women, 4) RCIA, 5) Sacramental Preparation, 6) Immersion Trips, 7) Grief Ministry.

Objective 3: “Parents are the first and most important educators of their own children, and they also possess a fundamental competence in this area: they are educators because they are parents.” (Letter to Families from Pope John Paul II) To strengthen parents’ role as primary educators by actively involving them in their child’s faith education as a way to continue their own faith journey. This will be accomplished through: 1) Yearly meeting by grade using “Journey of Faith” as a teaching resource, 2) Involving parents as chaperones on immersion trips, 3) Encouraging parent participation as volunteers in the Religious Education Program.

Objective 4: To formulate a dynamic program for our RCIA candidates that invites staff and other parishioners to journey with candidates in their preparation through involvement in the sessions and becoming prayer partners. To continue to be open to creative ways of preparing and celebrating the sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist, Reconciliation, Confirmation and Marriage.
